SU volleyball downs Bluefield State

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. – Shepherd University recorded a 3-0 win over Bluefield State College in WVIAC volleyball action at Bluefield State on Friday night. The Rams gained a 25-8, 25-19, 25-6 victory.

Freshman middle hitter Kayla Motheral (Sterling, Va./Potomac Falls) had 12 kills and a .625 attack percentage to lead the Rams. Junior outside hitter Kasey Mercier (Baltimore, Md./Mount de Sales Academy) added eight kills and six digs.

Freshman setter Taylor Belella (Smithsburg, Md./Smithsburg) had a nice all-around effort with 25 assists, five aces, and seven digs.

Kiara Watkins had four kills and 10 digs to lead Bluefield State.

Shepherd improves to 8-6, 2-2 in WVIAC action, while Bluefield State falls to 0-11, 0-4. The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Concord for a 10 a.m. match.
