SU volleyball sweeps Concord

ATHENS, W.Va. – Shepherd University recorded a 3-0 win over Concord University in WVIAC volleyball action at Concord on Saturday. The Rams gained a 25-23, 25-23, 25-19 victory.

Junior Lauren Gardner (Clarkson, Mich./Clarkson) recorded a match-high 15 kills with a .536 attack percentage to pace the Rams. Sophomore middle hitter Meg Kenny (Lynchburg, Va./E.C. Glass) added eight kills with a .636 attack percentage.

Senior setter Lauren Jeschelnik (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown) had 17 assists and two aces, while junior setter Sara Michael (Winchester, Va./James Wood/HCC) added 16 assists and a pair of aces. Freshman defensive specialist Trish Leigh (Hagerstown, Md./Williamsport) posted a match-high 10 digs.

Shepherd improves to 9-6, 3-2 in WVIAC action, while Concord falls to 8-10, 2-2. The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they host Fairmont State for a 7 p.m. match.
