Women’s soccer ties with AB
PHILIPPI, W.Va. — Shepherd University and Alderson-Broaddus battled to a 1-1 tie in WVIAC women’s soccer action at Alderson-Broaddus on Saturday.
Alderson-Broaddus took a 1-0 lead on an unassisted goal by Nicole Lehman at the 23:21 mark.
Senior defender Kathleen Bryant (Fallston, MD/Fallston) scored on an assist from freshman midfielder Lexi Vondrak (Harrisonburg, VA/Harrisonburg) at the 51:24 mark to give the Rams the equalizer.
Alderson-Broaddus had a 15-10 edge in shots and a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Junior goalkeeper Tessa Jones (Gaithersburg, MD/Magruder) had eight saves for the Rams, while Kate Laird had five saves for Alderson-Broaddus.
Shepherd moves to 5-5-1 overall, 3-1-1 in WVIAC action, while Alderson-Broaddus is now 5-5-2, 3-1-1. The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they host Southern Virginia for a 3 p.m. contest.
