Men’s club prepares for book sale

By Staff | Oct 14, 2011

The Shepherdstown Men’s Club is currently transforming the War Memorial Building into a grand book emporium. Thanks to the generous contributions of numerous donors, the club has amassed its largest-ever collections of new and used books. From 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. through Oct. 20, members of the community may drop books directly off at the War Memorial Building, according to this year’s organizers Art Wineburg and Susan Brown.

There will be a preview sale and wine and cheese party on Thursday evening, Oct. 20 from 6 to 8 p.m for those anxious to get first pick of the unusually large selection of material. There will be a $10 admission charge. Admission is free for the remainder of the sale on Friday through Sunday, Oct. 21 through 23.

The War Memorial Building will be open for business from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday.

In addition from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22, the club will have their usual soup kitchen open and serve home made soups, hot dogs and beverages.

Members of the community interested in volunteering to help set up for the book sale and sort books are welcome. They can drop by the War Memorial Building and day before the sale after 9 a.m. or call Art Wineburg at 304-876-2586.
