SU volleyball knocks off Charleston
Sophomore middle hitter Meg Kenny (Lynchburg, VA/E.C. Glass) recorded a match-high 20 kills and junior outside hitter Lauren Gardner (Clarkson, MI/Clarkson) added 13 kills and 22 digs to lead Shepherd University to a 3-1 victory over Charleston in WVIAC volleyball action at the Butcher Center on Saturday. The Rams gained a 25-18, 25-19, 19-25, 25-23 win over the Golden Eagles.
Junior outside hitter Kasey Mercier (Baltimore, MD/Mount de Sales Academy) had eight kills and 21 digs, while freshman setter/defensive specialist Taylor Belella (Smithsburg, MD/Smithsburg) contributed 20 digs.
Senior setter Lauren Jeschelnik (Huntingtown, MD/Huntingtown) recorded 46 assists, 10 digs, and four blocks.
Malleri Hardison had nine kills and 20 digs to lead Charleston.
Shepherd improves to 13-10 overall, 6-2 in WVIAC play, while Charleston falls to 10-15, 4-4. The Rams return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Pitt-Johnstown for a 7 p.m. match.
