Women’s soccer blanks Seton Hill

Senior defender Tiffany Banks (Harpers Ferry, WV/Jefferson) scored a goal and assisted on another to lead Shepherd University to a 3-0 win over Seton Hill in WVIAC women’s soccer action at Shepherd on Saturday.

Banks scored on a feed from sophomore forward Morgan Gabriel (Egg Harbor, NJ/Holy Spirit)in the 27th minute to give the Rams a 1-0 lead.

Sophomore defender Kelsey Eagan (Baltimore, MD/Sparrows Point) scored on a free kick in the 43rd minute to give Shepherd a 2-0 advantage going into the break.

The Rams added an insurance goal when freshman midfielder Lexi Vondrak (Harrisonburg, VA/Harrisonsburg) scored on a feed from Banks in the 85th minute.

Junior goalkeeper Tessa Jones (Gaithersburg, MD/Magruder) had seven saves for the Rams, while Bethany Winter had five saves for the Griffins.

Shepherd improves to 7-5-1 overall, 4-1-1 in conference play, while Seton Hill falls to 7-5-1, 3-3-0.

The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they travel to West Virginia Wesleyan for a 5 p.m. contest.
