Wesleyan edges out SU women’s soccer

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – Aleisha Rees scored on feed from Katie Roberts off a corner kick at the 40:36 mark to lift West Virginia Wesleyan to a 1-0 win over Shepherd University in WVIAC women’s soccer action at West Virginia Wesleyan on Tuesday.

The Bobcats had a 15-1 edge in shots and a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Junior goalkeeper Tessa Jones (Gaithersburg, MD/Magruder) had three saves for the Rams, while Caroline Lalley had no saves in a shutout effort for the Bobcats.

Shepherd falls to 7-6-1 overall, 4-2-1 in conference play, while West Virginia Wesleyan improves to 9-3-2, 5-1-2. The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Charleston for a 1 p.m. contest.
