By Staff | Oct 20, 2011

The first ever “Bridging The Gap” celebration will take place Friday, October 21 at the Historical Entler Hotel from 6pm-10pm during Shepherd University homecoming week.

The objective of this event is to bring current students, alumni and members of the broader community to recognize the progress that past and current stakeholders of Shepherd University have made in the arena of diversity and to share ideas and build sustaining relationships that ensures that progress in

diversity at Shepherd University will continue.

The “Bridging the Gap” event will feature, dialogue and discussion, remarks from guest speakers such as the Reverend Ernest Lyles (former Director of Shepherd University’s Multicultural office), tours of the Entler Hotel’s historical facilities, and access to their beautiful garden area for socializing and

networking.

Hors d’oeuvers and light wine will be provided in addition to a live, acoustics performance by Shepherd Alum Candice Mills from “The Band Called Future” (www.thebandcalledfuture.com), and a DJ providing music throughout the evening.

This event provides opportunity to celebrate our victories, promote Diversity and unite those who support the Diversity initiatives. A $20 donation from non-student attendees is suggested with all funds exceeding costs being contributed to a selected Shepherd University Diversity Scholarship fund.
