Mansfield edges SU women’s soccer

Leah Fuerst scored on a pass from Jessica Kerwin at the 75:51 mark to lift Mansfield to a 2-1 win over Shepherd University in women’s soccer action at Shepherd on Tuesday.

Mansfield took a 1-0 lead on an unassisted goal by Renae Bowman at the 11:23 mark.

Shepherd tied the game at 1-1 when freshman midfielder Chelsi Kling (Grantsville, MD/Northern Garrett) scored on a pass from freshman midfielder/defender Kelsey Propps (Sumerduck, VA/Liberty) at the 60:51 mark.

Mansfield had a 7-4 edge in shots and a 2-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Sophomore netminder Elizabeth Wise (Newark, DE/Caravel Academy) had four saves for the Rams, while Alexis Wilhelm had three saves for the Mounties.

Shepherd falls to 7-7-2 overall, while Mansfield improves to 2-13-0.
