Men’s soccer goes into overtime with Pitt-Johnstown

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – Bryce DeLizio scored on a rebound at the 107:35 mark to lift Pitt-Johnstown to a 2-1 double overtime win over Shepherd University in WVIAC men’s soccer action at Point Stadium on Wednesday.

Sophomore midfielder Kyle Ransom (Shepherdstown, WV/Jefferson) scored on a cross from sophomore defender Griffin Frazier (Prince Frederick, MD/Calvert) at the 55:40 mark to give the Rams a 1-0 lead.

Derik Swope tallied an unassisted goal for UPJ at the 73:03 mark to force the extra session.

Shepherd had a 39-25 advantage in shots and an 8-4 edge in corner kicks.

Senior goalkeeper Edgar Lopez Zuniga (Rockville, MD/Richard Montgomery) had nine saves for the Rams, while Michael Ceccaro had 12 saves for the Mountain Cats.

Shepherd falls to 6-10-1, 3-6-0 in conference play, while Pitt-Johnstown improves to7-7-0, 5-4-0. The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Chowan for a 1 p.m. contest.
