SU volleyball falls at Cal

CALIFORNIA, Pa. – California University of Pennsylvania handed Shepherd University a 3-0 setback in volleyball action at Hamer Hall on Tuesday night. The Vulcans gained a 25-18, 25-18, 25-20 victory.

Junior outside hitter Kasey Mercier (Baltimore, MD/Mount de Sales Academy) led the Rams with six kills and nine digs.

Senior setter Lauren Jeschelnik (Huntingtown, MD/Huntingtown) recorded 12 assists and six digs, while freshman setter/defensive specialist Taylor Belella (Smithsburg, MD/Smithsburg) contributed eight digs.

Abbey Freund had 19 assists and 11 digs to lead the Vulcans.

Shepherd falls to 14-13, while Cal (Pa.) improves to 24-4. The Rams return to action on Friday when they travel to West Liberty for a 6 p.m. match.
