WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – Shepherd University handed West Liberty a 3-1 setback in volleyball action at West Liberty on Friday night. The Rams gained a 25-19, 19-25, 25-22, 25-19 victory.

Junior outside hitter Kasey Mercier (Baltimore, MD/Mount de Sales Academy) led the Rams with 12 kills, nine digs, and four blocks. Sophomore middle hitter Melani Lewis (Bay Shore, NY/Brentwood) recorded 10 kills, while junior outside hitter Lauren Gardner (Clarkson, MI/Clarkson) had eight kills and 10 digs.

Senior setter Lauren Jeschelnik (Huntingtown, MD/Huntingtown) recorded 36 assists.

Shepherd improves to 15-13, 8-4 in conference play, while West Liberty falls to 8-16, 3-10. The Rams returned to action on Saturday when they travel to Wheeling Jesuit for a 1 p.m. match.
