Shepherdstown Planning Commission meeting

By Staff | Dec 15, 2017

SHEPHERDSTOWN –At its regular monthly meeting, the Shepherdstown Planning Commission will accept input on the creation of a set of guidelines to establish a Special Design Area, or SDA, along the Route 45 corridor from the Berkeley County line to the Shepherdstown corporate limits.

The meeting will take place on Monday at 6:30 p.m. in Shepherdstown Town Hall, located at 104 North King Street.

In cooperation with the County of Jefferson, the SPC has agreed to draft a set of guidelines for presentation to the County, which will establish an SDA along the western entrance to town. Located within the town’s Growth Management Boundary and integrated into the county’s Envision 2035 Comprehensive Plan, the corridor was established as an SDA by the County, but no guidelines were given as to what this area should look like.

Over the upcoming months, a special task force will be working to draft a set of guidelines that will manage how the Route 45 corridor into town grows. The SPC invites public input in drafting these guidelines.

A Jefferson County Future Land Use map including the Route 45 corridor is online at: www.jeffersoncountywv.org/home/showdocument?id=73

Updates will also be posted at the town website and on the town’s Facebook page.
