The first Saturday in June has traditionally been the day Ranson residents invite everyone to their town to take part in the Ranson Festival and enjoy the town’s annual Car Show.
This year, the 17th Annual Ranson Festival will take place Saturday. Hosted by the Ranson Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, this event is fun-filled and family-friendly. In conjunction with Ranson’s annual Car Show, the event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
As far back as 2010, the Car Show has been a favorite of many who attend. Every year, the number of participants has increased, as has the number of visitors.
“The interest in the Car Show has long been a significant and driving force behind tourism in the county,” said Debbie McClure, CVB director. “That’s one of the reasons we combined the event with the popular Ranson Festival.”
During the Festival and Car Show, live entertainment will take the stage, with the Fabulous Hubcaps performing from 12 to 2 p.m. on the outdoor stage located near City Hall. Streets will be closed to through traffic so the car entries can line the streets.
In addition, vendors for the Festival will be set up to provide everything from pony rides to moon bounces, games to a superhero costume contest for all ages. Vendors, face painting, free popcorn and cotton candy, and entertainment provided by local school groups will round out the day.
Anyone who wishes to can participate in the Car Show. Registration the day of the event is $20, with proceeds benefiting Jefferson County Community Ministries.
The first 100 entrants will receive “Dash” placards, and awards for car entrants will begin at 3 p.m. Awardees will include the top 30 vehicles as well as 14 specialty winners, which will include the Mayor’s Choice, Ranson City Council Choice, Chief of Police Choice, and Ranson CVB, Ranson City Manager and Participant’s choices.
“Many of the car show participants are locally based, but we are also fortunate to have members from Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, South Carolina and the southern part of our beloved home state,” said CVB intern Mirais Gash.
