SHEPHERDSTOWN — Now that the calendar pages have turned to November, the time is ripe for holiday shopping. To offer the opportunity to select handmade gifts or specialty items, multiple craft and vendor fairs are on tap this weekend.

Independent Fire Company, in Ranson, opens the doors on Saturday at 9 a.m. for a two-day craft and vendor show offering everything from baked goods to handcrafted items to independent sales. The event has sold out their spaces and promises to offer a little bit of everything to satisfy the shopping needs of attendees.

Just down the road, the Jefferson County Community Center at Sam Michael’s Park will feature a holiday craft and vendor fair on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Homemade gifts and handcrafted items will be available from multiple vendors, offering price ranges to entice any holiday shopper looking for a bargain.

On Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the 29th Annual Over the Mountain Studio Tour will be happening across Jefferson County. The free, self-guided tour of artist studios will feature 24 selected artisans at nine studios, who will be selling their wares, as well as offering snacks, to visitors. For those who want to wait a bit for shopping opportunities closer to town, the Shepherdstown Community Club’s Ho-Ho-Holiday Handmade Market that fills the War Memorial Building Nov. 23-25, Dec. 1-2, 8-9, 15-16 and 22-23.

This event hosts local and regional artists, artisans and designers who bring a unique and charm-filled shopping experience in historic downtown Shepherdstown. The market is open Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Shoppers will discover artful items and meaningful gifts that could include fine art, pottery, home and garden decor, jewelry and much more.
