SHEPHERDSTOWN — The Shepherdstown Community Club has mounted a food and personal items drive to assist government workers affected by the shutdown. A large box outside the War Memorial Building, located at German and King Streets, is collecting donations of non-perishable foods and items such as toothpaste, shampoo and soap. The donations are being taken to the Jefferson County Community Ministries in Charles Town for distribution.

Donors who wish to donate money may write a check to SCC, with “Govt. Shutdown” in the subject line, mailed to P.O. Box 463, Shepherdstown, WV 25443. These monies will be given to the Jefferson County Ministries for conversion to cash cards for payment of utilities and other bills.

These efforts will be active until the shutdown is ended.
