SHEPHERDSTOWN — Snyder Environmental continues its work on the East New Street Infrastructure Improvement Project in the 100 block of East New Street, replacing water and sewer lines.

According to a recent update from Mayor Jim Auxer, in which he thanked residents for their “patience and interest during this important infrastructure improvement,” the project will include: replacing inoperable fire hydrants; addressing water flow to the meters; installing a culvert at the Town Run crossing on New Street, which is currently collapsing due to a lack of a culvert; replacing old terra cotta sewer lines that are a source of infiltration; installing clean-outs where necessary; replacing old water lines to improve flow and reduce unaccounted-for water; and repaving the street to improve drainage to alleviate standing water and flooding of basements and sidewalks.
