SHEPHERDSTOWN — Rufus is a four-year-old Golden Retriever who lives in Shepherdstown with Nelson Smith and Paul Garrard. He loves to run on the C&O Canal towpath, but has stayed inside on the treadmill instead, during the recent heat wave. He’s a big Shepherd University Rams fan and can quite often be seen on East German Street hitting up all the stores and restaurants with cookies. He doesn’t wear a mask when he goes out, but insists his owners do.
