SHEPHERDSTOWN – Shepherdstown Centennial Lions Club members attended the Jefferson County Community Ministries (JCCM) 40th Anniversary “Love Thy Neighbor Gala” on May 13, held at the Ranson Civic Center.
The Shepherdstown Centennial Lions Club was one of numerous gala sponsors, “supporting many JCCM efforts and initiatives that allow JCCM to help clients lead better lives.”
The evening began with emcee Hans Fogle welcoming attendees. Jefferson High School Junior ROTC posted the colors and led the Pledge of Allegiance. America’s Got Talent’s season six winner, Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr., gave a moving rendition of the National Anthem. Murphy is an American jazz singer from Logan County. During dinner, Murphy continued to entertain guests, performing songs with his own live band.
Special remarks were made by JCCM Executive Director Keith Lowry, followed by the Endowment Campaign Address given by JCCM Development Director Jennifer Verdugo. The dinner blessing was given by JCCM Chaplain Georgia Debois. The keynote speaker was founder and director Will Cravens of “99 for 1.”
Later on, the “Liquid A” band performed songs and music for attendees to dance by. Dinner was provided by Leiter’s Fine Catering in Hagerstown. A silent auction and live auction were completed the festivities.
