SHEPHERDSTOWN — The Shepherdstown Centennial Lions Club announced the winner of its Peace Poster Contest on Monday.

The theme of the 2023 Peace Poster Contest was “Dare to Dream” and was intended to promote peace, tolerance and international understanding. The contest encouraged students to think about peace, creatively express what peace means to them and to share their unique visions for peace with the world.

Gracie Leonard, of Shepherdstown Middle School, submitted the winning entry. Leonard’s poster explained how peaceful it is for people her age to to be able to dream of expressing themselves by displaying their clothing styles, which allows their individual lights to shine in the world, thus making the world a better place for all.

The Peace Poster Contest will be held again in 2024. Submissions will be accepted from students ages 11-13, living in the Shepherdstown area.
