Two local streets on list of country’s top spots for Christmas shopping
MARTINSBURG – A pair of streets in the Eastern Panhandle are among three in the state of West Virginia being recognized for their Christmas shopping prowess.
According to Present.com, which surveyed 3,000 adults, German Street, in Shepherdstown, and Fairfax Street, in Berkeley Springs, are among the top 150 main streets for Christmas shopping. German Street is at No. 91 on the list, while Fairfax Street is ranked No. 137. Also in the Mountain State, Lewisburg’s Washington Street is No. 102.
German Street “exudes historic charm, with boutique shops, artisan goods, and festive lights that create a warm holiday atmosphere,” according to the site. That’s an accurate description, as the street is lined with businesses for shoppers to peruse and find the perfect gifts.
Some of those businesses on German Street include: Admiral Analog’s Record Store; Cooper Captures & TLC Photography; Creative Procrastinations and Whimsical Necessities; Dickinson & Wait Craft Gallery; Dogwood General Store; Four Seasons Books; German Street Coffee & Candlery; Shepherds Blessings; the Good Shop; Grapes & Grains Gourmet; Honor D Fine Shoes & Hats; Meditative Medicinals; Mountaineer Popcorn; On the Wings of Dreams; Potomac Trading Company; ReVersa Rose Skincare; and Tonic Herb Shop, just to name a few.
Fairfax Street is described as “a charming holiday destination, with art galleries, cozy shops, and seasonal decor perfect for Christmas shopping.” Among the shops on Fairfax Street are the Berkeley Spring Antique Mall; Fleur de Lis Cheese Shop; Jules Enchanting Gifts; Marley Max Candles and More; Mineral Springs Trading Company; Panhandle Apothecary; and the Berkeley Springs Farm Market.

• No. 10 – Park Avenue, Winter Park, Fla.
