SHEPHERDSTOWN — Martinsburg native Trae Sheehan will be returning to the area for a performance at the Shepherdstown Opera House, on March 22 at 7:30 p.m.
While he grew up in Martinsburg, Trae was also heavily involved in the Shepherdstown community and will be a familiar face to many longtime residents, due to his years of participating in children’s events at the Shepherdstown Public Library and walking alpacas from his family’s farm in the Shepherdstown Christmas Parade.
“You know when a night just means something? This is going to be one of those,” said Trae in a press release. “The Shepherdstown Opera House has been a dream venue of mine, since I started seeing shows there, while growing up in Martinsburg. I’m insanely excited to announce that I will have my own show there this March 22!”
Trae’s breakout album, “Arizona,” was released in 2019 to great acclaim, making it into the Top 10 on the Roots Radio Charts. He followed that up in 2020 with, “Postcards From the Country,” which was lauded by American Songwriter Magazine, PopMatters and The Bluegrass Situation. His third album, which was released in 2021, “Hello From the End of the World,” made it into the Top 100 on the Americana Radio Charts.
Trae’s next release, a 15-song long-playing record titled “Whispers of the Townfolk,” will come out on Aug. 8. One single from the record, “Show Me Happy,” began playing on the airwaves in February. Concertgoers can anticipate hearing a number of the songs from the record, along with fan-favorites like his song, “Sleeveless Hearts.”
For Trae’s mother, Martinsburg resident Misty Sheehan, seeing him perform live at a local concert venue will be a particular delight.
“Trae is wrapping up his March tour with a hometown show at the Shepherdstown Opera House,” Misty said of her son, mentioning he has dreamed on performing in this venue since high school. “This isn’t just another tour stop.
“If you’ve seen Trae before, you know the deal — one man, one guitar and a whole lot of heart. His mix of Americana and folk-rock (think Dave Matthews meets The Tallest Man on Earth) turns into something bigger when the crowd gets involved — singing, shouting, feeling every word,” Misty said. “It’s warm, it’s electric and it’s the kind of night you’ll talk about long after the last chord fades!”
Misty noted that this will be one of Trae’s final tour stops in the U.S. for a while, as he will be touring in the United Kingdom throughout the summer.
“This concert’s going to be special. Don’t miss it!” Misty said.
She said that tickets are expected to sell out. The Shepherdstown Opera House has 100 seats, so those interested in attending the concert are encouraged to purchase tickets as soon as possible.
Tickets will be $12 in-advance and $15 at-the-door. They can be purchased online at https://shepherdstownoperahouse.thundertix.com/events/242048. Doors to the concert will open at 7 p.m.
“Coming home with a full heart and a happy soul!” Trae said. “Get your tickets early and there will be a gift waiting for you at the merchandise table.”
