SHEPHERDSTOWN — This weekend, St. Patrick’s Day will be commemorated throughout Shepherdstown.
At Alma Bea restaurant, located at 202 East Washington Street, a St. Patrick’s Day Celebration will be held on Saturday, from 6:30-9:30 p.m.
“Save the date for Saturday night! We’ll be celebrating St. Patrick’s with local band, Doers and Makers,” said Alma Bea owner Mary Ellen Diaz on Facebook.
Based in Charles Town, Doers and Makers is a five-piece band that was formed in 2023. The band, with its rich blend of musical influences, entertains audiences with covers, including: classic rock, R’n’B, Americana, indie, punk and jam.
“Forgo your typical hang at your local green beer pub and come hang with the Doers and Makers at Alma Bea in beautiful Shepherdstown,” said the band on Facebook. “Put on your green and come spend the evening with us, Slainte!”

According to Diaz, Alma Bea’s celebration will feature a beloved local recipe, with connections to Ireland.
“For the third year-in-a-row, we’ll be making Jay O’Hurley’s five-gallon recipe for lamb stew and serving other Scotch-Irish immigrant cuisine, such as Scotch eggs, Colcannon greens and our delicious house-smoked corned beef and cabbage!” Diaz said, mentioning a number of special drinks will also be on the menu. “This will be another Alma Bea feast you won’t want to miss!”
Later that evening, beginning at 9 p.m., a St. Patrick’s Day Party will be held at Panagiota’s Taste of Greece, located at 115 East German Street. This will be the inaugural celebration of the holiday at the restaurant.
According to the restaurant’s owners, Emanuel and Lindsey Spanos, the party will feature another first for the restaurant, which opened its doors in October 2024.
“We are excited to announce our first live band at Panagiota’s!” they said, mentioning the band will play from 10 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. “Howling at the Earth is ready rock the town. This weekend will be a blast!”
A $5 cover charge will be required from anyone ages 18-20 at the party. No one above that age will need to pay a cover charge.
On Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Panagiota’s will continue its St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, with a traditional Kegs & Eggs Party. The party will feature a special brunch menu, green beer and $5 sangria, Bloody Marys and mimosas. Ten percent off will be given to any of the restaurant’s Golden Drinks.
