Children to dress as characters on Nov. 3 for parade
Every other year, Shepherdstown Elementary children are invited to dress up as their favorite storybook character. Then the students and faculty parade down Church Street, turn along German Street, pass the public library and on to Princess Street, returning to the school.
They will leave the elementary school at 1:45 p.m.
A variety of characters have been represented in the past: Cat in the Hat, Things 1 and 2, Harry Potter and his crew. The parade will be on Nov. 3. Several goals are met by this event, getting the children physically moving, bringing literature to life, all under the umbrella of having fun.
