Studio Tour to feature artists
The 21st Annual Over the Mountain Studio Tour will feature 26 Jefferson County artists. This tour allows individuals to meet the artists, tour their art studio and discover local talent. For an artist to be included in the tour, their work has to be juried in.
While visiting the actual studio where the artist creates, one might experience the heat of a blacksmith forge, hear the whir of a potter’s wheel, maybe even meet a portrait model.
The studio tour was designed to help attract more customers. Collaborative promotions are more affordable than if each artist was on his or her own. In past years, visitors have come from many states.
The tour will take place Nov. 13 and 14, but the artists work all year round. Many of the artists will take custom requests.
The tour is free and self-guided. There are 11 studio stops, dotted throughout the countryside from Shepherdstown to Charles Town. Each will offer hospitality and creative experiences from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
Artists include Doug Kinnett, Colleen Tracy, Isabelle Truchon, Sheila Brannan, Carrie Singer, Teressa Blickenstaff-Kitts, Pat Langerhans, Tom D’Onofrio, Steve Adams, Tara Bell, Eric Johnson, Nancy Streeter, Joy Bridy, Rebecca Grace Jones, Ren and Pam Parziale, Margot Ours, Frances Brolle, Anne Bowers, Treva Blackford, Linda Wright, Cheryl Sonnabend, Tom McGarry and Elaine Mosel.
Visitors will find a wide variety of art work and price ranges.
The website www.studiotourwv.org provides descriptions of the artist’s work and some photos. There is also a printable map with directions to each stop.
