FCTC seeks new students

Heading into the new year, the Full Circle Theater Company has several offerings on tap for young artists.

The first workshop production of the year will be Alice in Wonderland which begins with a first class on Monday, Jan. 16 and runs for eight weeks. Performance dates are Mar. 2-4 and 9-11. Rehearsals will be scheduled weeknights around students’ conflicts. Those wishing to participate should have a list of potential conflicts available at the first meeting.

Youth ages 8 through 18 are welcome to be involved in this production and all are guaranteed a place either in cast or crew, as they prefer. Cost for the camp is $150 with a discount of 20 percent applied to subsequent students from the same family.

In addition to this camp, an Art Camp is offered where campers will focus on the development of creative expression while exploring various art forms including painting, sketching, poetry, sculpting, music and dramatic literature. Open to ages 10-18, the camp runs Jan. 16-20 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Participation fee is $100.

A Puppet Camp will be offered Jan. 9-13 for those ages 5-9 who wish to learn the art of puppetry. Participants will work together to create puppets and prepare a performance for family and friends to be shown the last day of camp. Fee is $75.

For a fee of $100, those ages 12-16 can participate in an Improve Camp from Jan. 9-13 from 6 to 8 p.m. each evening. In this camp,young actors are taught how to approach improvisation while playing a variety of fun games.

For the intense high-school-aged actor, FCTC offers their first 24-hour theatre camp, packed full of everything that is wildest and craziest about the theater. Monday through Friday, Jan. 2-6, classes are from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday classes will cover basic acting, play-writing, directing and technical elements. Friday night, the timer begins. At 7 p.m. campers will begin the process of conceiving the concept for a one-act play, casting it, writing, it and finally producing the play to be performed 24 hours later. On Saturday, Jan. 7, campers will arrive at 9 a.m. when they will put their final touches on their plays and begin rehearsal for the 7 p.m. performance. This camp is open to those ages 14-18.
