Health seminar being offered

West Virginia University Hospitals-East and the WVU Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center Eastern Division will sponsor a community mini-medical school program on women’s health titled Hysterectomy: When It’s Right for You and When It’s Not.

The seminar will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 17 in the WVU Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center on the City Hospital campus. The featured speaker is Maria D. Merzouk, DO, obstetrician/gynecologist, who recently joined Dr. James Brown in practice at WVUH-East Obstetrics/Gynecology in Martinsburg.

Merzouk is an assistant professor and associate medical student clerkship director for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, WVU School of Medicine Eastern Division, and is a member of the medical staff at City Hospital.

Sign-in for the community mini-medical school program begins at 6:30 p.m., with the program to follow from 7-8 p.m. A tour of City Hospital’s recently renovated OB unit will be offered at the conclusion of the seminar.

This community mini-medical school program is being offered free to the public as a community service of WVUH-East and the WVU Health Sciences Center Eastern Division. Reservations are strongly recommended.
