By Staff | Jan 13, 2012

Jala Yoga at Mellow Moods Cafe and Juice Bar, 117 West German Street, has announced its winter schedule of classes as well as two unique yoga workshops taking place in January. The 2012 winter schedule offers classes seven days a week taught by a variety of highly-qualified yoga instructors. The full schedule is available on line at “http://www.jalayogaflow.com”>www.jalayogaflow.com. Class prices range from $8-15, depending on whether a class card is purchased or students are paying per class. A new student unlimited class card, good for one month, is available for just $40.

The two workshops are scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 21 and Sunday, Jan. 29. “Vino and Vinyasa” takes place on Jan. 21, 6 to 9:30 p.m. Jala Yoga director Christa Mastrangelo Joyce will lead a 75 minute yoga class, suitable for all levels of practitioners, followed by a delicious pairing of wine and food, prepared by Mellow Moods owner, Phil Mastrangelo. Wine expert Greg Joyce will host the wine portion of the evening. This popular event is sure to be both fun and relaxing. The cost is $30 per person, and reservations are required. To save a spot, please contact Christa at cmastrangelo@gmail.com no later than Sunday, Jan. 15.

“Move Your Asana,” led by yoga and dance instructor Kitty Clark, takes place on Sunday, Jan. 29, from 2 to 4 p.m. Geared for yoga students who yearn to dance or for dance students interested in the mindfulness of yoga, this hybrid expressive movement class integrates yoga, dance and movement improvisation. Yoga postures will serve as a jumping off point for an interesting excursion into the world of movement. The cost for the workshop is $15 or $12 for those who currently hold a Jala Yoga class card. No pre-registration required; more information is available by contacting Kitty at kitclark.moves@gmail.com.

Jala Yoga offers classes 7 days a week in the vinyasa style of yoga in which poses flow from one to another. Jala Yoga believes that yoga is accessible and necessary for everyone, and both beginners and seasoned practitioners are welcome. In the spirit of karma yoga, Jala raises money two times a year through donation events. Over this past holiday season, Jala raised $860 and three large boxes of non-perishable food items, all of which were donated to Jefferson County Community Ministries and specifically helped three local families obtain needed goods this winter.
