Group to host event Feb. 25
Sustainable Shepherdstown, a local group promoting sustainable community action, will host an “open space” event entitled “Brainstorming the Future: Moving Shepherdstown Forward.” The event will be held at the Shepherdstown Train Station on Saturday, Feb. 25, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. It is open to the public, free of charge, and refreshments will be served. Anyone with ideas and concerns about energy, local food, transportation, the local economy and similar subjects are welcome and encouraged to attend.
As Shepherdstown celebrates its 250th anniversary, there exists an opportunity to imagine the future together. An “open space” event is intended to bring people together to brainstorm in an organized way. Sustainable Shepherdstown will use this meeting to create an agenda and calendar of events for the next year.
The meeting structure allows everyone present to express their ideas, record them, share them with the group and make group action plans. More information on this type of event in the context of sustainability can be found at transitionculture.org/2008/03/21/12-tools-for-transition-no10-how-to-run-an-open-space-event/.
