Obituary Elizabeth Osbourn

Elizabeth Lucas Shaw Osbourn, 96, of Shepherdstown, died Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, at Canterbury Center under the excellent care of the staff and Hospice of the Panhandle. She was born May, 13, 1915, in Lappans, Md.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Post Osbourn, who died in 1978, her father Rev. Charles E. Shaw, her mother Elizabeth Lucas Shaw and three brothers Charles E. Shaw, Robert W. Shaw and Francis Shaw. She was the last of her immediate family. She was survived by two daughters, Sandra Osbourn and husband Thomas Hanna, of Shepherdstown and Carolyn Post Zwack and husband Edward, of Jackson, Calif., three grandchildren, William Osbourn Hanna, Julie Elizabeth Zwack and Kathryn Zwack, two step-grandchildren, Plymouth Hanna and Dylan Hanna, and four great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Osbourn retired in 1977 after 28 years with Jefferson Security Bank, of Shepherdstown. She was a faithful member of Trinity Episcopal Church, of Shepherdstown, where she was on the Alter Guild in the church and the church choir. She was a member of the Shepherdstown Womens Club, Mecklenburg Homemaker Club, Shepherdstown Chapter No. 128 United Daughters of the Confederacy, and Shepherdstown and Jefferson County historical societies.

Memorial services were held at Trinity Episcopal Church at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, with the Rev. Dr. G.T. Schramm officiating. Interment was private.
