Maura Halverson

Maura Flanagan Halverson, 62, of Shepherdstown, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, from her residence at Springdale Farm.

Born on Dec. 18, 1949, in Memphis, Tenn., she was the daughter of Walterine Mayerhoff Flanagan of Memphis, and the late Dr. James Flanagan.

Maura was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, friend, aunt and follower of Jesus Christ. She is never to be forgotten.

She is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, the Rev. Chris Halverson, at home; five daughters, Grace Anne Halverson Alexander and husband, Jackson, of Chattanooga, Tenn., Christina Halverson Davis and husband, Jonathan, of Shepherdstown, Maureen Halverson and Alicia-Kate Halverson, both of Shepherdstown, and Amanda Claire Halverson, of Chattanooga; one son, Richard C. Halverson III, of Washington, D.C.; her mother, Walterine Flanagan, of Memphis, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Watchman, Bronwyn, Asher, Rafe, Moira and Welby; three sisters, Kathleen Engstrom, Deirdre Flanagan and Patricia Rippe; and four brothers, Barry, John, Bill and Tom Flanagan.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Ed Flanagan.

In celebration of her life, a memorial fellowship luncheon will be held on Sunday, Feb. 19, at Covenant Church, Shepherdstown. The Rev. Chris Halverson will officiate.
