By Staff | Feb 24, 2012

Jala Yoga, located at Mellow Moods Cafe and Juice Bar, 117 West German Street, Shepherdstown, is offering three workshops in March.

On Sunday, Mar. 4, from 2-5 p.m., Jala yoga instructor and dance educator Kitty Clark leads “Earth Moves.” Participants will explore inner and outer landscapes in this workshop that includes a yoga practice, off-the-mat movement, time outside exploring the environment and the creation of movement artifacts that reflect the explorations. Part of the afternoon will be spent outside, so please dress accordingly. The cost is $15; $12 for Jala class card holders and students.

On Monday, Mar. 5, from 5:15-6:15 p.m., Jala yoga instructor Soozie Kinstler begins a six-week Beginner’s Series.

The series is meant for those new to yoga or those looking to enrich their current practice.

Kinstler will guide students through basic yoga postures, breath work and yogic philosophy, preparing them to mainstream into Jala’s other regular class offerings.

The cost is $72; $66 for Jala class card holders; $54 for students. Please sign up in advance by emailing Jala owner Christa Mastrangelo Joyce at cmastrangelo@gmail.com.

Yogi Mia Hamza brings her acclaimed Rocket Yoga back to Jala on Friday, Mar. 30, 6-8 p.m. The Rocket is a non-traditional style of Ashtanga yoga developed by Larry Schultz and designed to “get you there faster!”

With dynamic sequencing and multiple variations, this style of yoga builds heat, strength and flexibility. Rocket is lots of fun and made for all levels. The cost is $18 or $12 for Jala class card holders and students.

Jala Yoga offers classes seven days a week in the vinyasa style of yoga in which poses flow from one to another.

Jala Yoga believes that yoga is accessible and necessary for everyone, and both beginners and seasoned practitioners are welcome.
