Brain Games on tap April 1

By Staff | Mar 9, 2012

Literacy Volunteers of the Eastern Panhandle (LVEP) is pleased to announce our 15th Annual Trivia Tournament-Brain Games XV-that will be held on Sunday, April 1, at James Rumsey Technical Institute in Hedgesville. This event has grown bigger and better with each year, and the organization anticipates great success again this year.

Imagine what life would be like if one could not read. Approximately 30 million Americans, or 15 percent of the adult population, do not possess more than the most simple literacy skills. That means almost 22,000 people in Berkeley, Jefferson and Morgan counties are not able to read above a fourth-grade level. For more than 25 years, LVEP has provided free tutoring and instruction in reading and other essential basic literacy services to neighbors. This is a huge, but rewarding, undertaking. We owe much of our success and longevity to the support we receive from the community.

Brain Games is the signature annual fundraising event. Teams of three to six players compete in this fun and friendly game of trivia knowledge. Each year, more than 300 individuals join for this very popular and heavily publicized event. Gather a team of colleagues, employees, family members or friends and join in for an afternoon of brain-teasing fun? Brain Games registration fee of $25 per person will help LVEP continue with its mission.
