Carroll to play at Opera House
The Shepherdstown Opera House will be presenting Jon Carroll in a rare solo performance, March 16, 2012. He is a founding member of Starland Vocal Band (Afternoon Delight) and is a long time alumnus of Mary Chapin Carpenter’s tours and recordings.
Jon has won two Grammies, and numerous Washington Area Music Association “Wammies”, the most recent of which were the Songwriter & Musician of the Year Awards for 2011.
Jon’s catchy songs-some funky, some rollicking and some eerily meditative-have been recorded by Linda Ronstadt, Kenny Rogers and Tom Jones. As a touring musician, he’s worked with diverse acts such as Dixie Chicks, Rodney Crowell, Peter Wolf and Eric Lindell.
On the same bill that night is Shepherdstown favorite Chelsea McBee, who has increasingly gained popularity in the region with her groups The Random Assortment and The Lady Dies. She also happens to be Jon’s Cousin (their families hail from Berkley Springs) so there promises to be more than a little familial harmonizing and collaborative efforts during this extra special evening.
Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door.
