Harmony Yoga Studio celebrates 6th year

Shepherdstown’s Harmony Healing Arts Center is celebrating its sixth year anniversary as it kicks off its 11-week Spring Yoga Session this month.

The yoga program first started more than eight years ago with classes at the Men’s Club and Shepherdstown Train Station. Permanent space for a yoga center was secured in 2006 when the Harmony Healing Arts Center program became a reality.

Harmony will celebrate the anniversary by offering free yoga classes for the community between March 1824. In addition to the free yoga and body-rolling classes, Ann Craig will offer a Spring Equinox Crystal Bowl Concert from noon to 12:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Mar. 20.

The following free classes are being offered March 18-24: Sunday morning, Body-Rolling with Melanie Sirni, 1011 a.m.; Monday morning, Traditional Yoga with Terry Lindsay, 9 to 10 a.m.; Monday evening, Hot Yoga with Gena Rockwell, 7:15 to 8:15 p.m.; Tuesday, Spring Equinox Crystal Bowl Concert with Ann Craig, Noon12:40 p.m.; Tuesday evening, Yin-Yang Yoga with Terry Lindsay, 7 to 8:15 p.m.; Friday morning, Strengthen and Lengthen with JiJi Russell, 9:15 to 10:30 a.m.; Saturday morning, Gentle Yoga with Christa Mastrangelo-Joyce, 89 a.m.; and, Saturday, morning Yoga Flow with Christa Mastrangelo-Joyce, 9:1510:30 a.m.

After Harmony’s free week, its 11-week Spring Yoga Session will begin and run March 25 through June 9. Three new yoga classes will debut, two of which can be tried during free week. Gena Rockwells’s Hot Yoga!, on Monday evenings, will ensure breaking a sweat and detoxifying to a beautiful yoga glow. JiJi Russell’s Strengthen and Lengthen, on Friday mornings, is a fusion of yoga and Pilates for those who want to increase their core strength and tone the upper and lower body. Melanie Climis, will offer Happy Body Yoga, on Thursday mornings, a gentle yoga experience aimed at deepening your awareness of body, mind, and spirit.

Those registering for the Spring Yoga Session before March 23 will receive $5 off their registration fee. Seniors and Shepherd Students may receive an additional $5 off when registering at any time.
