The King’s Singers to perform at Shepherd University
The King’s Singers, one of the world’s most celebrated ensembles, will be in concert at the Frank Center of Shepherd University on Tuesday, Mar. 20, 2012, at 8 p.m. Brought to Shepherdstown by Friends of Music, The King’s Singers have a packed schedule of concerts, recordings, media and education work that spans the globe. Championing the work of young and established composers, they remain consummate entertainers; a class-act with a delightfully British wit.
Neal Barkus, Friends of Music board president promising “a great evening of entertainment” said “The King’s Singers are one of the finest and most famous singing groups in the world. We are very lucky to have them perform on the Frank Center stage.”
At the Grammy Awards in February, 2012, the King’s Singers won in the Best Choral Performance category for Light and Gold. The album was released in October 2010 and jumped to the number one Classical Album on the US and UK charts within a week.
“The King’s Singers represent the finest in the British choral tradition” said Dr. Scott Beard, co-chair of the SU Department of Music and Dean of Graduate Studies, “We are thrilled to have this world-renowned, Grammy-award winning group here at Shepherd University.”
The mission of Friends of Music, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is to support the Shepherd University Department of Music, the Two Rivers Chamber Orchestra and promote musical excellence throughout the region.
