Summer music camps scheduled at Shepherd

Shepherd University’s summer Jazz Camps and String Orchestra Camp are now open for registration. Application deadline is Monday, May 14.

The String Orchestra Camp will take place from June 18 to 22 in the Frank Center from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and is open to students currently enrolled in grades 9-12, as well as those who will have completed the eighth grade this year. A string orchestra concert performance will take place on Friday, June 22 at 6:30 p.m. String instructors for the camp include Shepherd faculty members Heather Austin-Stone, violin/viola; Stephen Czarkowski, cello/bass; and guest faculty member Teresa Gordon, violin/viola.

The Senior Jazz Camp will take place from June 25 to 29 in the Frank Center from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and is open to students currently enrolled in grades 9-12, as well as those who will have completed the eighth grade this year. The Senior Jazz Camp members will participate in a concert on Friday, June 29 at 6:30 p.m. Camp instructors include Shepherd faculty members Dr. Kurtis Adams, Dr. Mark Cook, Dave Marsh and Ronnie Shaw.

The tuition fee for either the String Orchestra Camp or the Senior Jazz Camp is $250. The tuition includes lunch every day and Friday dinner at the Dining Hall.

The Junior Jazz Camp that will take place from June 25 to 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The camp is open to students currently enrolled in grades 6-8, and the tuition fee is $125. Lunch is not included, students should bring a bagged lunch.
