Robert W. Potts, Sr.
Robert Warren Potts Sr., 77, of Martinsburg died Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at his residence while under the care of Hospice.
Born Aug. 3, 1934, in Luray, Va., he was the son of the late James R. Potts Sr. and Gleadith Irene Good Potts.
He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church.
Robert (Bobby) was also an avid sports fan. He followed the Washington Redskins, West Virginia University, Shepherd Rams and the “Old” Shepherdstown High School “Cardinals.” But he loved his Martinsburg Bulldogs, where he was especially proud of his grandsons who played football there, Timothy Potts, who is now a full time paid fire fighter and EMT in Loudon County; and Ryan Potts, now a junior at Shepherd University and is a member of the Shepherd University football team.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Fritts Potts; two sons, Leonard Brian Potts and wife, Tracey, and Warren Potts Jr. and wife, April; one daughter, Carmen Rene Potts, all of Martinsburg; two very special grandsons, Timothy Jordan Potts and Ryan James Potts; two sisters, Margaret V. Potts, of Martinsburg, and Ruth Bracket and husband, Caroll, of Hagerstown, Md.; and one sister-in-law, Virginia Potts, of Shepherdstown.
He was preceded in death by one son in infancy, Timothy James Potts; two brothers, James R. Potts Jr. and John Thomas Potts, who died in infancy; and one sister, Leona “Snooks” Long.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7, at Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Marshal Light officiating. Interment was in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
