Back Alley Garden Tour and Tea set for 15th year

By Staff | Apr 27, 2012

The 15th annual Back Alley Garden Tour and Tea is scheduled for May 19 and 20. Over 16 private gardens that reflect the diversity of the community will be open to tour-goers. Some are old favorites, but most are new to the tour.

View local artists’ paintings while sipping tea from fine china. Enjoy homemade sweets and savories. Shop in unique, quaint stores lining the main street and dine in one of the many outstanding restaurants. The tour hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 19 and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 20. A tea party will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Tickets may be purchased at a cost of $20 at the Shepherdstown Sweet shop Bakery, the Village Florist or Bistro 112. Children 10 and under are free and must be accompanied by an adult. The ticket price includes one tea service and unlimited access to the gardens on both days.

Tour maps will be distributed to ticket holders on the event days at the War Memorial Building at the corner of German and King streets. Free parking is available at Shepherd University’s Lot A.

The event is sponsored by the Shepherdstown Community Club with proceeds benefiting the War Memorial Building, Morgan’s Grove Park and Visitable Shepherdstown.
