Marshmallow driving contest scheduled
How far can one drive a marshmallow? Come find out on Friday, May 4 at Cress Creek Golf & Country Club in Shepherdstown. From 10 to 11:30 a.m. a “Marshmallow Driving” contest will be held. The contest will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project headed and will be headed up by Miss West Virginia, Spenser Wempe. The mission of WWP is to honor and empower wounded warriors. WWP’s purpose is to raise awareness and enlist the public’s aid for the needs of injured service members, to help severely injured
Servicemen and women aid and assist each other, and to provide unique, direct programs and services to meet their needs. All proceeds from the Marshmallow Hitting Contest will benefit WWP.
This contest kicks off the 19th annual Caregivers’ Golf Classic. Participants will support providing volunteer care to over 500 elderly and disabled home-based Jefferson County residents. Now in its 22nd year of service, Good Shepherd is a local non-profit with incredible volunteers who provide free services to the community. A shotgun start begins at noon.
