Geffett to lead history forum

On Thursday, May 24, beginning at 7 p.m. the fourth in the Historic Shepherdstown Commission’s speaker series will take place at the Asbury United Methodist Church. The topic will be “Brown v. Board of Education and Integration in Shepherdstown.” Professor Hannah Geffert, of Shepherd University, will emcee a panel including Bishop Charles Hunter (on growing up in Shepherdstown and the impact of integration); Evelyn Taylor (on Shepherdstown churches) Jim Taylor (on integration at Shepherd College); and Margaret Grantham. The program will include music by the Ambassadors.

The Historic Shepherdstown Commission’s Speaker Series is part of the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the establishment of the town. This series is being presented with financial assistance from the West Virginia Humanities Council, a state affiliate of the National Endowment of the Humanities.
