Elegant evening of wine and travel nets $20K for local charity

By Staff | May 25, 2012

On Saturday, April 28, the Shepherdstown Day Care’s Wine Auction at the Bavarian Inn drew an enthusiastic crowd and $20,000 in profits, all of which will go to help the Day Care provide a top quality child care experience for those families most in need.

The evening was indeed a memorable one, as the Bavarian Inn’s elegant dining room was filled to capacity with guests enjoying wine and scotch tastings, sampling food from several of Shepherdstown’s best restaurants and bidding at an auction which featured everything from Top 100 wines to fine dining, from gourmet meals to magnum’s of magnificent wine, and, to top it all off, a trip to the Caribbean island of St. Lucia.

The Journal and Chronicle were some of the night’s Platinum sponsors, as well as The Bavarian Inn, Jefferson Security Bank and Steven and Susan Mitchell; Gold Sponsors included the Asam family and Patrick Morrisey.

“Thanks to all who made this event such a success sponsors, donors, bidders, and volunteers,” said Patty Martineau, president of the Shepherdstown Day Care Board of Directors. “Your generosity will have a tremendous impact on your community!”
