Past Shepherd president debuts play

ORANGE, MA. — The Drama Circle of Massachusetts will present Dr. Michael P. Riccards’ play “Lincoln: The Musical” as part of the Civil War Remembrance Days on July 7-8 and 14-15 in Orange, Mass..

Dr. Riccards is a former president of Shepherd College (1995-2002).

The play, written in verse, includes Civil War era songs and is one of the few plays that covers Lincoln’s term as president. The production is directed by Genevieve Fraser and features a cast of 28.

Dr. Riccards is also the author of a two-volume history of the American presidency and was the chair of the New Jersey state commission on the Lincoln Bicentennial Commission. He is currently the founding executive director of the Hall Institute of Public Policy in Trenton, N.J.
