Yoga for Runners workshop at Jala Yoga

Jala Yoga, a yoga studio at Mellow Moods Cafe and Juice Bar, 117 West German Street, Shepherdstown, will offer a yoga workshop specifically for runners on Friday, Aug. 24, 6-8 p.m. The two-hour workshop, co-taught by yoga instructors Christa Mastrangelo Joyce and Siri McDonald, costs $16, $13 for Jala class card holders and $11 for college or high school students.

Among the topics to be covered are ways that yoga can help condition the body, provide necessary realignment and stretching to enhance running times and facilitate oxygenation of the body during runs. By exploring some of the best yoga poses for runners, Christa and Siri will demonstrate the ways that core strength, balance, flexibility and mental focus can enhance a runner’s abilities as well as decrease pain during and after runs.
