Robbery in town Aug. 4
On Saturday, Aug. 4, at approximately 1:40 a.m., Shepherdstown Police Officers Harper and K9 Officer Cook responded to a burglary in progress at 300 South Duke Street.
According to a statement from the Shepherdstown Police Department, officers were advised that a white male wearing dark color shorts and a gray t-shirt was inside the residence. Officers from the Shepherd University Police Department also responded to assist.
Upon arrival, officers saw a white male matching the suspect’s description run into the bushes in the 200 block of West Washington Street. A perimeter was set up and the suspect was detained.
The suspect was identified as 20-year old Nicholas Bakos. The victim stated Bakos had entered the residence through a kitchen window. Bakos allegedly acted belligerently and violent while inside the house. According to the police report, the victim grabbed a shotgun and forced Bakos out of the residence. Bakos was arrested for Night Time Burglary and transported to the Eastern Regional Jail pending arraignment.
