Obituary – Lanham
Donald “Hump” Henry Lanham, Sr., 66, of Ranson, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012, at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, Va.
Born Oct. 25, 1945, in Purcellville, Va., he was the son of Mildred Ballenger Lanham, of Ranson, and the late Harrison Edward Lanham, Sr.
He was a member of Shenandoah Memorial United Methodist Church in Millville.
He was a decorated U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, receiving two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star for Valor.
Donald retired from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in 1997, as a management analyst in the office of information services and was currently employed by the Town House Motor Lodge as a clerk.
A lifelong resident of Jefferson County, he was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Donnie was a member of the VFW Post No. 3522 and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge No. 948, both of Charles Town.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Faye Lanham, at home; one son, Donald Lanham, Jr. and wife, Katrina, of Charles Town; stepson, Robby Elliott and wife, Mary, of Charlottesville, Va.; one brother, Harrison E. Lanham, Jr. and wife, Vicki, of Shepherdstown; one nephew, D. Scott Lanham; six grandchildren, Ashley, Allison and Adam Lanham and Rachel, Caitlyn and Kacie Elliott; two great-grandchildren, Adisen and Ellafaye; and his faithful K-9 companion, Jake.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, 2012, at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry/Charles Town, with the Rev. Douglas Fraim officiating. Interment was in Pleasant View Memory Gardens in Martinsburg.
