The Potomac Valley Audubon Society’s popular Wee Naturalists program is returning after a break for the summer. The program is designed to provide regular opportunities for children ages 3-5 to explore nature together safely under the guidance of an experienced PVAS instructor.

All sessions are held at the Society’s Yankauer Nature Preserve, on Whiting’s Neck in northeastern Berkeley County. Each session will last from 9:30 to 11 a.m.

Dates for this fall’s sessions are Aug. 23; Sept. 17 and 18; Oct. 15 and 16; Nov. 12 and 13; and Dec. 3 and 4. Each month’s sessions will focus on a different topic. Topics range from exploring forest insects and animals to learning about signs of autumn. Although the topics remain the same from year to year, the activities for each topic are always being updated and this year’s activities are brand new.

The program is led by Suzi Taylor, of Sharpsburg, Md., a veteran Audubon camp director who has a degree in environmental education.

At each session, children must be accompanied by a parent, grandparent, other adult relative, or guardian.

To ensure that everyone receives close, personal attention, enrollment will be limited and pre-registration is required.

Easy on-line registration is available on the Society’s website at www.potomacaudubon.org. Families may register for one or all the months. The fee is $5 per child/adult team per session.
