Rubber Ducky Classic to be held Saturday
The second annual Rubber Ducky Classic is planned for Saturday, Aug. 25 with a start time of 4:30 p.m. The event, a fundraiser for the Good Shepherd Caregivers, has scores of rubber duckies floating down Town Run.
The race will begin across from Billie’s Restaurant where duck owners will place their duckies in the Run. Ducks will then float down to the Blue Moon where the lucky first, second and third place winners will receive monetary prizes. The owner of the first place duck will receive $300 with second taking $200 and third place earning $100.
Ducks may be purchased at a cost of $10 for one duck, $40 for a family of five ducks and $75 for a flock of 10 ducks. All proceeds will support Good Shepherd Caregivers whose free volunteer services include transportation, visiting, reassurance calls, yard work, medical equipment loans and fix-it projects to the senior and/or disabled citizens of Jefferson County.
The Caregivers have set a goal of $4,000 to earn with the fundraiser. To secure a duck, call 304-876-3325 or visit www.gsivc.org for more information.
