150th anniversary of the Battle of Shepherdstown
The Jefferson County Historic Landmarks Commission will commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Shepherdstown on Wednesday, Sept. 19. The gathering is free to the public and will be held at the landmarks commission’s recently purchased Cement Mill property at the intersection of River Road and Trough Road. Parts of the battle were fought on this property and tours will be given to interested visitors. The site will be open to the public from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 19. Refreshments will be served.
