Hannah Rose Wisniewski received a juris doctor degree cum laude from New England Law | Boston during the 101st Commencement ceremonies at the Citi Performing Arts Center’s Wang Theatre on May 25, 2012.
Wisniewski is the daughter of Michael and Susan Wisniewski of Shepherdstown. She is a 2005 graduate of Jefferson High School and a 2008 graduate of West Virginia University.
A Dean’s List student and the recipient of the Dean’s Scholarship, Wisniewski was a student ambassador, a member of Phi Delta Phi and a participant in the Community Outreach Program at the Suffolk County Jail.
She was an editor of the New England Journal on Criminal and Civil Confinement and author of the article, “It’s Time to Define High-Crime: Using Statistics in Court to Support an Officer’s Subjective ‘High-Crime Area’ Designation,” published in the Spring 2012 volume.
At this year’s commencement, 340 juris doctor degrees were awarded. The Honorable Randall T. Shepard, chief justice (retired), of the Indiana Supreme Court, delivered the Commencement address.
New England Law | Boston was founded in 1908 as Portia Law School, the nation’s only law school devoted exclusively to the legal education of women. Coeducational since 1938, the law school is accredited by the American Bar Association and is a member of the Association of American Law Schools. It is a nonprofit, tax-exempt institution.
Approximately 700 students attend the school’s full-time division, while approximately 400 pursue degrees in the part-time division. An additional part-time program designed for students with primary childcare responsibilities allows for individualized study options.
